The Simcoe County Master Gardeners group was formed in 1986 with the support of the Alliston Horticulture Society. Founding members included Alistar Crawford and Ken Phipps as co-ordinators. Other members included Ivy Gross and husband Ray, Gisela Kruegar, Marjorie Bell, Jean Crawford, Jane Blackstock and Kevin Healey to name a few. Presently we have about 20 members and several Emeritus members.

Master Gardeners of Ontario is a volunteer organization comprised of individuals who are certified horticultural experts providing in-depth sustainable gardening information to the general public.
Our mandate is to motivate and educate the general public and gardeners in Simcoe County.
We offer Pick Smart seminars to Horticultural Societies. Members of the society are divided into three small groups of between 10-15 and move around from session to session. This gives each group the opportunity to ask and answer questions on an individual basis. Hand-outs are included.
To determine the number of speakers to book divide the estimated number of members attending by 15. It may be possible to provide topics you suggest but will depend on the availability of the speakers from the dates selected. A wide variety of topics are available. Here are just a few:

Meetings are held 7PM on the third Tuesday of each month with the exception of December, January and February due to weather conditions in our area. They are held at Simcoe County District School Board, Coldwater Room in Midhurst.
